PetroVietnam Exploration and Production Corp. (PVEP) saw the first oil flows from four wells in Algeria’s Sahara Desert. The wells are part of the Bir Seba project on Blocks 433a and 416b, jointly operated by PVEP, Sonatrach, and PTTEP.
The rig is now pumping around 2,000 bpd from the BRS-6bis well on a trial basis to test its oil well system, pumping station and CPF, according to PVEP.
The remaining three wells, the BRS-9, BRS12, and BRS14, are expected to increase flow rates at the Bir Seba to 20,000 bpd in the coming weeks.
During the second phase of the Bir Seba project, production is expected to reach 40,000 bpd, scheduled for 2019.
