Unlimi-Tech Software Inc.’s FileCatalyst Direct accelerated and managed software solution has been selected by PGS as its core transport technology.

Unlimi-Tech Software, the pioneer in accelerated file transfers and the creator of FileCatalyst, the world’s leading accelerated file transfer solution, is pleased to announce the selection of its software by Petroleum Geo Services (PGS).
Founded in Norway in 1991, PGS is a marine focused geophysical organization helping oil companies to find offshore oil and gas reserves worldwide. Today, PGS has a presence in over 25 countries and ranks among the world’s 3 largest marine seismic companies. PGS routinely collects large datasets from remote locations which must be transferred back to its offices in London, Houston, or Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
When PGS ran into difficulties transferring files using other file transfer methods, including an FTP tool and an open source UDP-based file transfer application, it investigated alternatives to speed the delivery of its datasets and fully utilize their 10 Gbps link from London, UK to Houston, Texas. Furthermore, PGS sought a file transfer solution with tracking capabilities, ability to monitor ongoing transfers, as well as robust administrative features.
PGS selected and deployed the FileCatalyst Direct accelerated and managed file transfer solution with a 10 Gbps license. FileCatalyst Direct’s unique acceleration technology enabled the blazing fast transfer of files containing vast amounts of data on the international 10 Gbps link, while also optimizing transfers in the often unreliable network conditions experienced in the remote areas where PGS collected data. In addition to the speed optimizations, FileCatalyst Direct provided the tracking and administrative capabilities which PGS was lacking in its previous solution.
