Power Interruptions Set for Tanzania

Monday, November 18, 2013

Tanzania’s national power utility Tanesco announced power interruptions from November 16-26 as a result of ongoing maintenance at power stations.

Maintenance of the gas plant at Songo Songo, owned by Pan Africa Co. a subsidiary of Orca Exploration, is one of the main factors in the power disruption. The plant provides 245 MW of power to Tanesco. According to Tanesco’s public relations officer Badra Masoud, the maintenance will improve the supply of electricity. She also said that diversifying Tanzania’s energy supply to include more renewable energy is important to help combat power outages.

Orca has been working diligently on its exploration program over the past year or so to add additional gas volumes to increase feedstock capacity at the Songo Songo plant.
