In Tunisia the body in charge of forming Libya’s new unity government, the Presidential Council, after a short delay, has named the new government of national accord. The deadline for naming the government was 48 hours overdue because of squabbles over the distribution of ministerial posts.
According to reports only seven of the nine members of the council signed the document and many members of the competing governments do not back the agreement as it is said not to evenly represent the varied groups and factions in Libya.
The agreement still has to be approved by the House of Representatives in Tobruk and the General National Congress in Tripoli.
