Protesters have shut down a gas field in eastern Libya and have threatened to shut in the Wafa oil and gas field in the western part of the country. Libyan protesters have shut down an eastern gas field and threaten to close the western Wafa oil and gas field. The shut down could halt gas exports to Italy.
The Irda gas field is down and the Sahel might follow, shutting in a combined 150 Mmcf/d of gas production. The shut in of production could lead to power cuts in the eastern and central region of the embattled North African country.
In the west a different set of protesters are poised to seize the Wafa oil and gas field, if their demand for jobs is not met.
