On the sixth anniversary of its revolution Tunisia saw new protests with hundreds of citizens taking to the streets demanding jobs.The protesters clashed with police in a number of towns, blocking the route of President Beji Caid Essebsi, who was visiting the area to mark the anniversary of the uprising.
According to the reports out of Tunisia, the protests started in the town of Ben Guerdane in southern region and spread to other towns over the weekend.
In the town of Gafsayouths protesting against Essebsi’s visit, threw stones and blocked the road. The protests in Gafsa led to President Essebsi changing his route before leaving by air. Protesters in Sidi Bouzid demonstrated in front of the local governorate.
