Thailand’s PTT signed a preliminary deal with Anadarko Petroleum Corp to buy 2.6 million tons per year of LNG from the company’s planned plant in Mozambique.
The preliminary supply agreement with Anadarko, the major shareholder and operator of Rovuma Offshore Area 1, is aimed at securing energy supplies for Thailand. PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) holds an 8.5% interest in the field, which it picked up with it acquired Cove Energy last year.
It was also reported that the firm is in talks with Mozambican officials about regulations on the country’s petroleum industry and is negotiating with owners of fields close to Area 1 about the possibility of cooperation, PTTEP CEO Tevin Vongvanich told reporters.
