Algerian state energy firm Sonatrach and PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) announced that the Algeria Hassi Bir Rekaiz Project has successfully commenced oil production at the targeted 13,000 barrels per day.
The Algeria Hassi Bir Rekaiz Project is located onshore, in eastern Algeria’s Berkine Basin and covers an area of 1,916 sq kms.
The development plan during the first phase of exploitation included the entry into production of the two discoveries “Bou Goufa” and “Rhourde Ez Zita” via the connection of 17 oil wells to the treatment facilities at Rhourde El Baguel.
Sonatrach states a second phase of development concerning the eight other fields discovered within the contractual scope will be carried out, thus making it possible to reach a production level of around 60,000 bpd.
