Ghana has been preparing for the World Cup matches by rationing its power supply for the entire month to prepare for its national team’s debut on June 16.
Ghana purchased 50 MW of power from its neighbor, Cote d’Ivoire, to make up for its current shortfall from the Akosombo dam on the Volta River so that Ghanaians could cheer on their team without interruption. Unfortunately for Ghanaians their team’s first time on the field led to a defeat by the US team.
