Tuesday, May 23, 2017

A blast at Sasol’s Natref oil refinery in South Africa injured 11 people. The blast also caused the shutdown of operations close to the 108,000 bpd facility but production at the main refinery continued, according to the South African firm.

The refinery is a JV between Sasol and Total.

Operating units near the hydrogen compressors were shut down. The cause of the blast and the exact impact of the damage is being investigated; however, the fire will have to be extinguished before a full inventory of the damage is made.
