Repsol Makes Reggane Gas Score

Tuesday, July 31, 2007

A gas discovery has been made in Algeria’s Reggane Basin by a consortium made up of operator Repsol YPF, Sonatrach, RWE Dea and Edison International.

The Reggane-6 (RG-6) discovery was made at a deep depth of 5,116 meters on Blocks 351C and 352 in the Reggane North region.

The RG-6 well tested gas from the Ordovicium formation for the first time. Together with the other reservoirs already found, the discovery in this geological formation adds to the region’s gas reserves. Extensive exploration and appraisal work is ongoing in the Reggane Basin, says partner RWE Dea.

Since the establishment of the consortium, Reggane-6 is the fourth well to yield gas.
