Another merger between two relatively large E&P firms is in the works. On December 15 Talisman Energy Inc confirmed it is engaged in discussions with Spanish oil major Repsol regarding a potential corporate transaction.
Repsol is not the first merger approach Talisman has seen, according to the company it has been approached by several parties regarding various transactions. It said there can be no assurances that these discussions will result in a transaction or on what terms.
Rumor has it that Repsol has been finalizing an offer for Talisman and an announcement should be expected shortly.
