The Republic of Congo (ROC) officially launched its licensing round on Wednesday during the Africa Oil Week conference held in Cape Town, South Africa.

Minister Jean-Marc Thystere Tchicaya welcomed attendees at the roadshow held alongside the event, and told the delegates that the “ROC was open for business.”

Included in the 2016 license round are eight deep and ultra-deep offshore blocks and five onshore blocks. Ministry officials elaborated on the attributes of each to the delegation. They also briefed delegates on the new petroleum code replacing the last code of 1994. The new code had been modernized to incorporate best international practice and includes provisions for deep offshore and mature fields.

Results of the blocks offered in its Coastal and Cuvette basins will be made known on in May 2016,   Ministry said.
