Rosneft Eyes Angola and Mozambique

Rosneft is looking to expand in sub-Saharan Africa, specifically in Angola and Mozambique. The company had a delegation in Angola to discuss the possible participation of the company in exploration and development projects there.

The Russian firm said that its delegation to Angola, headed by company VP Andrei Shishkin, met a number of officials including oil minister Jose Maria Botelho de Vasconcelos and Francisco de Lemos Jose Maria, the head of state oil firm Sonangol.

The company’s president and chairman Igor Sechin met with Mozambique’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Oldemiro Julio Marques Baloi on April 22 in Moscow. The parties discussed a wide range of issues, including possible involvement of Rosneft in exploration and production projects in Mozambique.
