Russia Could Help Rebuild Libyan Oil

Sunday, December 17, 2017

Libya has put its feelers out to various government and companies for aid in reconstructing its battered infrastructure in an attempt to bring its production levels back up to pre-civil war levels, and beyond. Most recently the government has reached out to Russia.

The head of the Russian contact group on Libya, Lev Dengov, said talks regarding the reconstruction of Libya’s oil depots by Russian companies will start in 2018. According to Dengov in a Sputnik report, Libya is looking for Russian companies because they “greatly value the qualifications of our specialists.”

Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club in Russia, Libya’s foreign minister Mohammed Sayala said that Libya was ready to invite Russian firms to participate in rebuilding infrastructure.

Libya has also been in talks with the Egyptian government regarding its firms participating in the rebuilding effort.
