RWE Dea Bids Due

Bidders for RWE Dea were expected to hand in their offers on January 20. According to reports the RWE exploration and production unit garnered three bidders.

The bidders are said to include Wintershall, a consortium made up of US private equity firm KKR and Kuwait’s Kufpec, as well as Russian billionaire Mikhail Fridman.

A Reuters report has the E&P unit valued at about $5.44 billion and will give the winning bidder access to exploration and production assets in various regions, including Africa. In Algeria RWE is in the midst of preparations to bring gas production online, in Libya the company holds exploration licenses, and it is a producer in Egypt.
