Saipem Wins $850 Million in Contracts

Saipem was awarded a number of new drilling contracts around the world, including in Africa. The contracts are worth approximately $850 million of which $540 million are related to offshore activity and refer to four different rigs in Saipem’s fleet.

The company’s contract in Africa comes from Nigeria where the Scarabeo 3 semi-submersible drilling rig will extend its stay until March 2015

Saipem’s other offshore contracts come out of Indonesia, the Arabian Gulf, and Ecuador; these involve the Scarabeo 7, Perro Negro 2, and Ocean Spur respectively.

In relation to onshore drilling, Saipem was awarded by different clients new contracts worth about $310 million, relating to 31 drilling rigs in South America; 21 in Venezuela, seven in Peru, two in Columbia, and 1 in Ecuador. The contracts have been signed under different terms, varying from three months to two years, and starting at different times during 2014.
