Mohammed Dionne has been appointed prime minister by Senegal’s President Macky Sall according to the country’s state television RTS. Dionne replaces Aminata Toure following her failure to win a seat in local election on June 29. It is hoped Dionne will have better luck than Sall’s previous prime ministers as he is the third appointed to the post since March 2012.
Dionne has finance experience under his belt holding a position with the Central Bank of West African States. He was also with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. He can also be credited for implementing Senegal’s $7.98 billion development plan with the previous government.
“The head of state gave me and government of the Republic a roadmap that can be broken down into few words… get to work,” Dionne said on state television after meeting with the president.
