Wednesday, February 24, 2021

Engineer Mustafa Sanallah received the Anti-Corruption Champion Award in Libya, presented by the Biden administration, and dedicated it to workers in the oil and gas sector in Libya.

Through a virtual meeting, His Excellency the Ambassador of the United States of America to Libya, Richard Norland, on Tuesday afternoon, February 23, 2021, awarded the “Anti-Corruption Hero Medal” virtually to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation, Eng. Mustafa Sanallah, which was recently announced by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

It is worth noting that Eng. Mustafa Sanallah is one of 12 individuals from all over the world who have been honored by the Minister of Foreign Affairs for their work as “heroes in the fight against corruption.”

Engineer Mustafa Sanallah commented on winning the award, saying: “I am very honored to win the Transparency and Anti-Corruption Award presented by the administration of US President Joe Biden. We have worked hard during the past period to consolidate the principle of transparency by disclosing every dirham of oil and gas revenues and oil derivatives to the Libyan people.

“Corruption threatens the security and stability of states, impedes economic growth in them, undermines democracy and human rights, destroys confidence in public institutions, facilitates cross-border crime, and leads to the depletion of state resources and savings for the benefit of groups and people, while peoples remain below the poverty line,” he added.

“I would like to thank President Biden’s administration for this award, which will constitute an additional burden and a great responsibility to move forward in the path of consolidating the principle of transparency and fighting corruption, in order to advance this country again and achieve comprehensive development. I would like to dedicate this award to all workers in the oil and gas sector in Libya, who sacrifice a lot and face risks every day, and realize that the future of the homeland is in their hands. I would like to thank them on behalf of all Libyans.”
