Sasol Certain GTL Has Future in Mozambique

Friday, June 27, 2014

South African petrochemical giant Sasol is pretty certain that GTL will play a role in Mozambique’s future in monetizing the natural gas discovered off its coast.

According to the company it has made strides in this area “that no other companies have”, which stands it in good stead for when these huge gas reserves are commercialized.

Talk of Sasol’s interest in participating in the commercialization of Mozambique’s gas reserves has been going on for a number of months, with the company saying in March it was monitoring a potential role for its proprietary GTL technology in neighboring Mozambique.

Sasol is already involved in monetizing Mozambican gas through its development of the country’s onshore Pande and Temane fields. The fields’ production is piped to Sasol’s chemical plants in Secunda.
