Thursday, February 8, 2018

South Africa’s Sasol has completed Phase 2 of its $1 billion expansion of its wax plant in the country. The expansion will allow for the petrochemical firm to increase its annual production rate.

Sasol says it plans to ramp up production to 137,000 tons per annum of wax within the next two years at its Sasolburg site. In H2 of 2017 the company produced 63,000 tons of wax.

Sasol Co-CEO Bongani Nqwababa said production was running ahead of schedule.

“With completion of this project, South Africa is now one of the leading countries of wax production globally,” he said.
