Schlumberger Pulls out of OneLNG

Sunday, June 3, 2018

OneLNG, a JV company set up between Golar and Schlumberger, has taken a big hit as it was revealed that Schlumberger was withdrawing from the JV. The JV, formed in 2016, was to develop, alongside Ophir Energy, a FLNG facility offshore Equatorial Guinea.

The announcement was made by Ophir and Golar who reported that, for Schlumberger, this withdrawal is due to repeated delays in making the project’s FID.

“We would like to continue the project and we are also in discussions with other potential partners to replace Schlumberger,” said Golar, during a conference call with investors. The discussions so far have been fruitful.

In the face of repeated postponements of the FID, the government of Equatorial Guinea has urged partners to find a solution by the end of this year. Otherwise, it would with draw the operator status from Ophir or suspend the project.
