The northern region near the Nigerian city of Maiduguri has seen more attacks by the Islamist militant group, the Boko Haram. The latest attack left at least 65 people dead and many others wounded on January 30. Suspected Boko Haram militants attacked the community of Dalori three miles east of Maiduguri.
Militants opened fire on residents, set fire to houses and targeted a crowd with suicide bombers, according to security and medical officials. Reports say the attackers entered the town in two cars and motorcycles and opened fire on residents and burned down houses and while people were fleeing, three suicide bombers made their way into the crowd and blew themselves up.
The attack on January 30 was the third attack in a week that was carried out by suspected Boko Haram militants. In neighboring Adamawa state, a suicide bomber killed about 10 people on January 29 and at least 12 were killed on January 27 in the village of Chibok.
