Scores Killed in Accra Petrol Station Fire

An estimated 90 people died when a petrol station exploded in Ghana. Reports out of the West African country said that around 90 people taking shelter from a storm died when the station was rocked by an explosion.

The accident was caused by a fire at a nearby lorry terminal. Flames spread to the state-run GOIL petrol station via spilt fuel floating on flood water. The people taking shelter at the station had no chance to escape.

News reports cite witnesses as saying the victims were burned beyond recognition.
