Operations on two of Tullow Oil’s blocks in Kenya have been shut down due to security concerns. The UK-based firm issued a statement saying that Blocks 10BB and 13T saw operations as local residents hold protests demanding for more jobs at the sites.
“We have temporarily suspended our operations across Block 10BB and Block 13T in Turkana East and Turkana South sub-counties. The priority at the moment is to ensure the safety and security of our staff,” Tullow said in a statement.
Tullow did not say whether any of its staff had to be evacuated from the drilling sites.
