Senegal Plans Licensing Round

Senegal is preparing to launch a licensing round for 10 oil blocks in the Q1 or Q2 2019.  The information was announcedrecently by the managing director of the country’s state-run oil firm Petrosen, Mamadou Faye.

Of the blocks to be put on offer, nine are located offshore and one onshore.

Faye also revealed that the government is working on a new petroleum code, which should be ready prior to the launch of the licensing round.

“I can tell you today that we are preparing a new law that we will be publishing this year. After the law, we will open most of the oil blocks that are not available today,” said Faye according to reports by Intellivoire.
