Sharara Field Back Online

Wednesday, September 6, 2017

Libya’s Sharara oil field reopened on September 5 after being shut down for more than two weeks due to a pipeline blockade, a Libyan oil source said in a Reuters report.

The field, Libya’s largest, had been producing around 280,000 bpd until the pipeline connecting the field to the port of Zawiya was shut in by an armed group on August 19.

The Sharara oil field is operated by a JV between NOC, Repsol, Total, Statoil, and OMV.
