Bapetco, Shell’s JV in Egypt, started production from its BTE2 well, adding 25 Mmcf/d to Egypt’s natural gas production totals. The well’s production will increase to 50 Mmcf/d after drilling and completion of the BTE1 well on the North Alam Al Shawish exploration concession in the Western Desert, according to the concession’s manager, Anton Artes cited in an Al Ahram Gate report.
The next phase for the company on the concession includes developing existing wells and adding new ones to the production map, Artes stated, adding that output reached 245 Mmcf/d of natural gas, and 25,500 bpd of oil and condensates.
The Shell JV will conduct seismic on the concession in February in an effort to determine new drilling sites with potential to boost production.
