Somalia Files Maritime Response to ICJ

The government of Somalia filed a response to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the c regarding its dispute over its maritime boundary with Kenya. The response was filed on June 18. Somalia’s attorney general, Ahmed Ali Dahir, said the government had succeeded in tendering its reply before the ICJ deadline expired.

Dahir said he was present at the filing of the response.

The dispute revolves around what Somalia says is a seizing of its maritime acreage by Kenya. Somalia first sued Kenya in August 2014 over the issue. According to Kenya the two countries signed a c in 2009 agreeing to settle the dispute out of court but were unable to come to terms
