Somalia to Offer Up Acreage

Companies interested in exploring in the Horn of Africa country of Somalia may get their chance as the government plans to offer up acreage. The government has decided not to wait until its laws and regulations governing the sector are in place.

Somalia has seen a considerable amount of seismic conducted by Soma Oil & Gas and Spectrum Geo. The results of these surveys suggest that Somalia has promising oil reserves along the Indian ocean coast.

The government says it will accept bids for exploration licenses in November and the PSAs will be signed in December.
