Sonangol launched a major call for tenders to buy petroleum products in an attempt to expand its import base, according to a Reuters report. The tender comes under
reforms instituted since the arrival of the new President, Joao Lurenço, to revitalize the sector.
According to reports the tender is open until January 31 and is for 1.2 million tons of gasoline, 2.1 million tons of gas oil and 480 000 tons of marine fuel. It would see the
arrival of one or more players in the sector, given that the main suppliers of Angola are currently the Dutch Trafigura for diesel and the Swiss Vitol for gasoline.
