Sonatrach and the Norwegian company Equinor have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at cooperation in the management and reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, in the framework of activities carried out jointly in Algeria.
The implementation of this memorandum of understanding by the two parties aims to initiate useful steps with a view to reducing GHG emissions, the search for low-carbon energy solutions, and the energy transition.
Furthermore, this MoU provides for the continuation of joint studies with a view to identifying the possibilities for managing CO2 capture, its use and storage at the In Salah and In Amenas natural gas production sites.
Equinor operates in partnership with Sonatrach on both the In Amenas and In Salah gas fields.
