Sonatrach, Algeria’s state oil and gas company, signed a deal with Portugal’s Galp to extend a natural gas supply contract to Portugal by 10 years.
According to the state-run firm, the deal will see Algeria ship 2.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year to Portugal. Supplies are currently delivered under a 1994 contract.
“For Sonatrach, these agreements strengthen its position as a major supplier to the Iberian Peninsula,” a Sonatrach statement said.
