Sonatrach Awards Contract to Revamp Hassi Messaoud

Sonatrach awarded GJC a contract for work at the Hassi Messaoud oilfield. The contract, worth $339 million, is to help increase production at the field.

Reuters, quoting a document it viewed, said the contract includes the “revamping and realization of a new system of production in Hassi Messaoud.”

The Hassi Messaoud oil field, located in the central part of Algeria, was discovered in 1956. It was developed and is currently operated by Sonatrach. The Hassi Messaoud is the oldest and the largest oil field in Algeria.
