Algerian state-run firm Sonatrach’s international subsidiary, Sipex, made a discovery in Libya partnered with Oil India and Indian Oil Corp. The discovery was made on Area 95/96 in the Ghadames Basin with the drilling of the C1-96/01 well.
The well was production tested in the Tadrart, Ouan Kasa, and Awaynat Wanin Formations. In the Tadrart Formation the well flowed at a rate of 8 Mmcf/d of natural gas and 114 bpd of condensate. From the Quan Kasa Formation the well flowed at rates between 9 Mmcf/d of gas and 160 bpd of condensate. The Awaynat Wanin Formation flowed at 5 Mmcf/d of gas and 160 bpd of condensate.
The C1-96/01 well is the fourth discovery well in this contract area drilled by the partners.
