Sonatrach Plans Mega Investment

Algeria has big investments planed for its petroleum sector. According to an Algeria Press Service report, state-run Sonatrach will invest more than $73 billion by 2020, with two-thirds of that going towards exploration and production.

 

The country’s Minister of Mines and Energy, Salah Khebri, said at the opening of the Algeria-European Union forum on energy “This indicates Algeria’s willingness to maintain the necessary production to satisfy domestic demand, which is in constant growth.”

 

Khebri said that the country’s efforts in the hydrocarbon sector required massive investments and revealed that the between 2000 and 2015 that total reached $100 billion spent by Sonatrach and its foreign partners.
