Sonatrach Plans Tinhert Production Boost

Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddour, head of Algeria’s state-run oil firm Sonatrach, told reporters that the firm would invest $250 million to boost output at the Tinhert gas field. The CEO said that the funds will be used to boost the field’s production to 20 Mmcm/d by 2020 up from its current 5 Mmcm/d.

“This is an important project that will push our gas output up,”Ould Kaddour said while speaking to reporters on site at the Tinhert gas field.

Algeria will see a few new gas fields come onstream this year, boosting its overall gas output. The new fields include Touat, with 12.8 Mmcm/d, Reggane North with 8 Mmcm/d and 148 barrels of condensate per day, and Timimoun with 5 Mmcm/d.
