Sonatrach Receives ISO 50001 Certification on Four Production Units

Four production units of the National Hydrocarbon Company Sonatrach have obtained ISO 50001 certification attesting to optimized energy management, which will allow the group to continuously improve energy management, Sonatrach said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Committing to respond to the major challenges of the energy transition with the establishment of an Energy Management System (EMS) for its most energy-consuming installations, SONATRACH, through its Exploration and Production Activity and with the support from the Central R&D Department, has won the challenge of optimizing energy by obtaining ISO 50001 certification for four of its gas and condensate production units,” according to a press release published on Sonatrach’s Facebook page.

The certified units make up the southern crude processing units (UTBS) and LDHP -ZCINA of Hassi Messaoud, the processing unit of Gaz-Gassi Touil, and the processing unit of Gas – Rhourd Nouss.

“This certification attesting to optimized energy management, was delivered by the German organization TÜV Rheinland thus constituting a distinction and a real benchmark for SONATRACH, allowing it the continuous improvement of energy management by promoting the reduction of its consumption for the benefit of competitiveness and the environment, ” the statement read.
