Sonatrach Signs EPC Contract with Chinese Firms for Skikda Tank Project

Algeria’s Sonatrach has signed a contract with the Chinese group Sinopec Luoyang Engineering Co. Ltd (LPEC) & Sinopec International Petroleum Services Corporation (SIPS). Under the agreement, the Consortium takes the EPC contract for the dismantling of two existing tanks at the liquefaction complex at Skikda – GL1K. A new storage tank for LNG with a nominal capacity of 150,000 m3 is also part of the deal.

The Project also includes the supply and installation of equipment for the connection of the future Ferry to the new LNG loading system of the New Skikda Jetty (project in progress as part of the extension of the oil port), thus ensuring the removal and significant rotations of LNG vessels dedicated to export.

The total amount of this contract amounts to nearly 25 billion Dinars and is expected to be completed within 40 months.

Once delivered, this project will increase Sonatrach’s LNG storage capacity and increase the related removal volumes.

The state firm states conclusion of this contract will strengthen the LNG export capacities of Sonatrach, which aims to consolidate its position as a regional leader in the production of LNG.
