Egypt has contracted more LNG cargos to help meet its domestic energy needs. EGAS, Egypt’s state-run firm in charge of the country’s natural gas resources, signed an agreement with fellow North African producer Algeria for six LNG shipments.
The agreement, signed with Algeria’s state-run oil and gas entity Sonatrach, has the cargos of LNG being delivered over 2015.
Egyptian Petroleum Minister Sherif Ismail and a ministry delegation attended the signing alongside his Algerian counterpart Youcef Yousfi, during his visit to Algeria that started December 28.
Each shipment will comprise of 125,000 cubic meters of LNG to meet the needs of the country, Ismail said.
