Soraz to Sell Refined Products

Monday, May 30, 2016

Soraz, the refinery owned by the government of Niger and CNPC, will now be allowed to sell petroleum products into the market place.  Prior to this Niger’s state-run oil products firm, Sonidep, held a monopoly on the sale of oil products produced by the refinery.

The Soraz refinery processes between 12,000 to 16,000 bpd.

“Soraz and Sonidep are authorized to jointly export refined products. After meeting domestic needs, the excess production will be split 50/50 between the companies,” Energy Minister Foumakoye Gado said in a letter to the Minister of Commerce.
