South Africa Eases Licensing Moratorium

Firms who have been looking to explore in South Africa received some good news recently, the government will be going over applications soon. According to a Reuters report, South Africa plans to ease its moratorium on gas and oil exploration licenses to allow exploration and production applications already in the system to be granted.

The moratorium was enacted earlier this year.

“This amendment will ensure that applications currently in our system are processed and granted,” Mineral Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe told an oil and gas industry meeting
