South African state utility, Eskom, obtained a court order to stop a strike action initiated by the members of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM). Eskom has said that the work stoppage is illegal because members of NUM are prohibited by law from striking.
Despite the court order obtained by Eskom, more NUM workers joined the strike action on August 10. Workers are demanding more pay from the state-run utility company.
