South Lokichar Drilling Resumes

Tuesday, December 20, 2016

Africa Oil Corp. and Tullow Oil have resumed drilling on Block 13T in Kenya with the spudding of the Erut-1 well. The well was spud on December 18 and is located in the northern part of the South Lokichar basin.

The Erut-1 well is a follow up well to the successful Etom-2 well which discovered 102 meters of net pay and the first in a firm four-well program. The Etom-2 also had some of the best reservoir characteristics seen to date in the basin.

There is the potential that Africa Oil and Tullow could drill an additional four contingent follow-on wells.

Africa Oil CEO Keith Hill commented, “We are excited to get back to drilling and particularly interested in the first two wells in the program which will test exploration prospects in the northern portion of the Lokichar Basin opened up by the Etom discovery. These wells, and the follow up appraisal wells at Amosing and Ngamia, are important steps in moving the Lokichar development project forward.”
