South Sudan has ambitious production capacity targets, planning to more than double oil production over the 2017/2018 fiscal year. The government in Juba wants to see production hit 290,000 bpd, higher than its capacity prior to the outbreak of hostilities in late-2013.
South Sudan is currently producing roughly 130,000 bpd.
“The resumption is underway,” Minister Stephen Dheiu Dau said in an interview with Reuters. Dau went on to say that the conflict had affected more than just production; with facilities and power also taking a hit.
