South Sudan Production on the Rise

Monday, September 23, 2013

Production in South Sudan has reached its highest level since production resumed earlier this year. According to the country’s petroleum ministry, production flows have reached 240,000 bpd.

South Sudan’s petroleum ministry said that of the total 240,000 bpd, 170,000 bpd came from fields in Upper Nile state, while the rest is being produced from the Unity fields.

The country was pumping 300,000 bpd prior to a row with Sudan over pipeline transit fees that had it shutting in all of its production in January 2012.  .

Nicodemus Ajak Bior, spokesman for the ministry said: “We are working towards increasing our daily production as long as the atmosphere between the two countries remains conducive, as it is now, for the benefit of both countries.”
