South Sudan to Launch “Month of Tranquility”

Thursday, May 8, 2014

In an effort to stop the violence taking place in South Sudan from escalating into genocide and to ease pressure from international governments Juba has ordered its troops to halt attacking rebel forces for a month. This month will be a “month of tranquility.”

Juba’s Information Minister Michael Makuei Lueth said that while the government would honor its commitment to a “month of tranquility” its troops could still fight back if attacked.

There was no word from the rebels.
