SPDC Targets 600 Mmcf/d

Sunday, May 19, 2019

SPDC, Shell’s unit in Nigeria, said it is targeting gas output of 600 Mmcf/d from its Assa North and Ohaji South. This follows the company taking the FID on the two projects earlier this year.

The two fields, currently under development, are expected to generate energy equivalent to 2,400 MW.

Osagie Okunbor, MD of SPDC stated that “the projects would be a major game-changer in Nigeria’s quest for energy sufficiency and economic growth as we look to grow the domestic gas market.”

This production will see 2.4 million Nigerian homes with an uninterrupted power supply, the company said.
