Statoil appointed Øystein Michelsen as its new Tanzania country manager within the firm’s Development and Production International, sub-Saharan Africa business unit. Taking up his new job on January 1, Michelsen will be located at Statoil’s office in Dar es Salaam.
Currently Michelsen is the executive VP of Development and Production Norway.
Statoil CEO Helge Lund commented in a company statement: “Øystein took on the challenging role as head of DPN at short notice in 2008, and has taken the organization forward in a very good way. His deep operational experience, combined with a hands-on approach and his ability to mobilize and motivate his people, has been instrumental in developing DPN. At the same time he has built high credibility and trust with all key stakeholders, within the industry as well as on the political arena.”
