Benthic was awarded a contract by Statoil Tanzania for geotechnical site services on Tanzania’s Block 2. Benthic’s PROD2 (Portable Remotely Operated Drill), operating from the DPII Jaya Valour platform supply vessel, will perform a site investigation survey and retrieve core samples up to 100 meters below the seafloor in water depths up to 2,900 meters.
In addition, further key equipment will be deployed to gather additional geotechnical information requested by Statoil.
“This project marks the second contract Benthic has secured off the East Coast of Africa. Benthic is proud of the high quality sample results PROD repeatedly produces in challenging environments,’ stated Greg Fyffe, VP of Operations. ‘PRODs recent success in the African Region signifies a bright future for Benthic and our growing reputation in ultra deepwater market.”
Benthic will be mobilizing onboard the Jaya Valour in December and will begin the offshore campaign, mid/late January 2014.
